Seddon Deadly Sins : 148 Victoria St, Seddon

June 30, 2013 at 8:58 pm (Breakfast/Brunch, Coffee, Seddon, Victoria)

Stop 5 on our west-side brunch tour won me over the moment we walked into the assuming red-brick building on Victoria Street.  Everything about Seddon Deadly Sins just channels  ‘fun and relaxed’, from the tongue-in-cheek name to the eclectic interior, Phantom comics wallpaper and Little Golden Book menus placed in front of us by the friendly staff.

Deadly Sins - Menus

This cafe is one of those brunch spots where ordering is a challenge; the menu is quirky and comprehensive, allowing you to pick your vice as you see fit; spicy Spanish eggs pack a wrathful punch, dished up with salsa, chorizo and parmesan, while the generous serve of bacon and baked beans accompanying a fluffy, house-made chili corn loaf is bound to leave you feeling slothful afterwards.

Deadly Sins - Sloth

Seeing another diner tuck into a mountain of green eggs and ham may leave you struck with food-envy but the must-try on this menu would have to be the grilled banana pancakes topped with banana-infused caramel sauce and ice cream.  Ice cream for breakfast! So gluttonous! And even more so if you order a serve of scrambled eggs on the side…. (something that not even our big-brekky-loving Canadian friend could not conquer).

Deadly Sins - Gluttony

If this still isn’t enough, then there plenty of lustful extras to choose from, including baked polenta, (heavenly) crispy hash browns and honey lamb and rosemary sausages (to which you will have to add the delicious fig, chili and onion jam).  On top of this, there’s a daily specials board, introducing other sinful concoctions.  What’s better than scrambled eggs and bacon, you ask.  Scrambled eggs and proscuitto wrapped in flaky roti bread….
