Brunswick Street Cider House

Back to Brunswick Street Cider House to try out their normal menu, which comprises quite a long list of items for sharing (with a good assembly of vegetarian options), along with their popular burgers and fries.  We decided to go with a bit of everything.

Szechuan salt and pepper squid.

Bruschetta; avocado, tomato salsa and goats cheese, on nigella and fennel baguette.

A vegetable gumbo of eggplant, zucchini, okra, capsicum and roast fetta.

The two specials were a laksa and salted cod croquettes with garlic aioli.

Their burgers and fries get my vote.  Served on brioche with your choice of fries and dipping sauce, there are 3 burgers on the regular menu and 5 on the Tuesday/Wednesday diner-style menu.  The deep fried southern chicken burger was delicious; juicy, 12-spice-crumbed chicken with sweet, tangy mayo, lettuce and tomato.  On the side, sweet potato fries with a fragrant rosemary, thyme and garlic seasoning, and roasted garlic aioli.

A wide range of ciders and craft beers keeps things interesting.  We sampled a sweet, house-brewed jazz apple cider, crisp, dry Kung Foo rice lager and fruity mango beer from Matso’s Brewery.  For those who aren’t counting calories, liqueur milkshakes and cider spiders are also available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
